In the land of Book,
Where people lived by the letter,
There was a Small Nook,
Which, well, could’ve been a lot better…
The people of Small Nook
(Weird looking people, those!)
They wrote in the Big Book
Sonnets & essays, poetry & prose.
One among them,
Was V. Tiny Tot.
He didn’t write much,
Just scribbled a lot.
In all the land of Book,
To write was to score!
You were a schnook
If you didn’t write anymore!
So they gathered around in a council
Decided to set the record straight,
Threatened V. Tiny Tot with a big, fat bill,
And dire consequences to his fate!
Pretty satisfied with that,
They all went back!
And they hoped it would get
V. Tiny Tot properly on track!
What they didn’t realize was this:
V. Tiny Tot’s aberration wasn’t ad-hoc,
That he didn’t write was no fault of his!
After all, he lived in Writers’ Block!

Another poem. For obvious reasons – heh heh!

To give you that sponge-shoulder when you cry…
To assure you that you’ll score at the first try!
To lift you up when your spirits are low,
To speed you up when things go slow!
To make you feel like you are the king,
To stand by you when you haven’t done anything!
To teach you the finer points of life,
To make sure your ‘girl’ becomes your ‘wife!’
To clean up the mess when every one else has left,
To ensure you never feel bereft…
To take you on a night-tour to hunt for food
To say, “Take me drunk. I’m home, dude!”
To listen to you each time you yell,
To tell you, “It’s okay, no need to dwell…”
To plonk on your sofa & fiddle with the remote,
To help you learn your lessons by rote!
To walk up to the girl you had a crush on -
To tell her, “Make him yours, before he is gone!”
To use things you own & care not one bit
To tell you (however fat you are) “You are fit!”
To push you back & jump into the fight
To come back with a bleeding nose & say, “It’s alright!”
To remind you that the sun will still rise in the east…
To introduce you to others as the “good-looking beast.”
To say anything further, I leave it to you -
To tell me, what does your friend mean to you?
—–
I seem to be on a spree – but I’m not complaining. Maybe it’s better to NOT resolve & just do it. Whatever.
I’m enjoying it, so far… :)

The Land of Noo
Was a land where all wishes came true.
Now don’t you wish,
You had lived there, too?
But hold your horses!
Don’t jump too far,
What you don’t know,
Might leave a deep scar!
It’s a pity that
Now no one lives there…
Everyone who did,
Wished the rest would disappear!

Just some random time-pass! Happy New Year!… :)

Something I wrote in response to Pree‘s post, “Tears“.
The words just flowed out as I began typing, and before I knew it, I had finished it. I get scared at such times. Because, however hard I try, I cannot recall what went into the frenzy.
Title: For you…
So many words to speak,
Yet, lips sewn to silence
So little time to spend,
All of it spent in violence.
So many things to say,
Yet far apart we stand.
So much there is to spend,
Yet, not a dime in hand.
Life’s little mysteries
Are wont to cause concern…
You might solve them eventually
But one you’ll never discern.
Coz life’s like that to you,
You hold it full of scorn
While you writhe in self-pity
It goes on, and on, and on…
You take these things to heart.
I’d call that a pretty good start.
People are crazy, times are strange
The world is yours to change.
– Shri
The second line from the last, has been plagiarized from the “Things have changed,” Bob Dylan’s OST for the movie “Wonder Boys.”
Read the entire poem, in context. Here’s a handy link:

Pree’s post reminded me of this post by John Scalzi: Being Poor. Though most of it has a distinct American perspective, it just stops short of being universal. I urge you people to read the comments that readers have posted. There are some really funny ones, and some that tear your heart out.
Call me quirky, or call me insane. I just can’t quit hoping that world can be a better place.
*sigh* Seems like it’s one of those days again.
Now, where’s my coffee?
PS: Pree, I hope you don’t mind.
